Of Clouds and What Remains
We are lying in a meadow, feeling the cool blades of grass beneath us, while a cloud begins to tell its story. It carries us along on a journey of transformation through travelling winds, still waters, frosty nights and dewy mornings, changing into sky sheep, sea foam and fog squadrons. The story is about everything that is constantly changing and everything that lasts forever. It speaks of moments of farewell and grief and offers a gentle first encounter with death, while holding on to the realisation that something always remains, even when the outer shell is gone.
- The images are created using long and double exposures and filters covered with toothpaste.
- For children whose curiosity is not yet held back by fear.
- A multi-layered narrative leads back to the beginning and tells of farewell and grief, and of what remains.
In my work, I combine photography and writing to explore feelings that are often difficult to name. I am interested in the treasures and upheavals of life, in moments of farewell, and in what remains when something changes or disappears. Books become a dialogue partner for me, opening windows you can look through, but don’t have to, and sometimes you can even climb through. Creating images and short stories is the right channel for me to express my own and others’ feelings about life, loss and love.
