Curtain Up, Darkness!
Ari’s darkness has always been there. Quiet, familiar, easy to overlook. Then, one day, it grows too big to ignore, showing up everywhere and bringing fear with it. The more Ari tries to push it away, the more it expands.
But one night her room turns into a shimmering theatre, and the darkness waits at centre stage. When Ari finally faces it, they begin to rediscover each other, and Ari finds her way back to her place on her inner stage.

- A story about fear, imagination, and learning to meet the unknown.
- The darkness appears as a shape-shifting character.
- It encourages children to approach uncertainty with curiosity.
Hi, I’m Leonie from Berlin. During my fashion design studies, I discovered my passion for storytelling, which I’ve been exploring ever since across different media. I work with textiles, photography, and film, and more recently I’ve been focusing on illustrating picture books. For my illustrations, I use gouache and coloured pencils, a combination I value for its tactile, analogue quality.
