The spirit of my brother
Fenja‘s brother Torben has taken his own life. She begins studying, but finds little connection or joy. In her loneliness, she revives her brother as a fictional ‘ghost’ who accompanies her on a journey through growing up in the 90s. Gradually, the ‘ghost’ increasingly demands control over Fenja‘s decisions and eventually urges her to intervene in the past to prevent his suicide. But after she prevents the suicide, Fenja realises an unexpected truth: her brother remains unhappy, and a second layer of the narrative unfolds. Torben reveals that he has integrated Fenja into his own story - a story in which he survives and escapes into fiction with the aim of explaining to her what it feels like to be depressed.

Hi, I'm Jasper and I've always loved painting and drawing. This is my first own book project – a Graphic Novel. I have a background in product and interface design, but I'm also an oil painter, seeking a balance to the technologies and intense screen work. Even though the Graphic Novel – after much back and forth between digital and analog – will ultimately be drawn digitally, I engage in a dialogue between digital and analog media. In general, I search for insights in the juxtaposition and difference, which are often reflected in strong contrasts in my drawings and paintings.
